Flaregames Launches Major Publishing Initiative, Announces New Fieldrunners Game
First game of the new flaregames line-up revealed // Industry veteran Ralf Adam joins as Executive Producer
Flaregames, a leading international developer and publisher of F2P mobile games, today announced that the company has launched a major publishing initiative. Previously flaregames’ games were developed mostly in-house, now the company has signed a number of publishing deals with major US and international developers. Each of these deals is larger in scope than each of flaregames’ previous titles. The company is using cash from a recent €9 million funding round for this portfolio expansion. The first developers flaregames is working with, Subatomic Studios of Cambridge (MA, USA), will co-develop a new game in the Fieldrunners universe together with flaregames. Fieldrunners is a series of award-winning Tower Defense games developed by Subatomic with nearly ten million paid downloads.
Flaregames was founded 2011 and has developed and published more than half a dozen games, among them the award-winning action strategy games of the Royal Revolt franchise. The company has collected €17 million in two funding rounds and operates two internal development studios, in Karlsruhe and Frankfurt, Germany. Ralf C. Adam, industry veteran with more than a hundred games shipped, and known as one of Germany’s best producers, has been recently hired to help oversee 3rd party game development. Adam held executive positions in companies like Gameforge, Travian Games or Virgin Lands and brings vast development experience to the table.
Jamie Gotch, CEO of Subatomic, comments: “Together Flaregames and Subatomic Studios are set to launch the next version of the globally celebrated Fieldrunners brand in 2015! Bigger and better than ever, fans of Fieldrunners will find this title familiar, yet highly original and innovative. In fact, we’re publicly warning players not to overdose on the massive amount of fun and excitement we’re packing into the game.”
Klaas Kersting, founder and CEO of flaregames, says: “This is a major move for us: we have seen solid success with our own games but we’re ready to go to the next step. The games we developed and published gave us many things: a rock solid server toolset, extensive marketing skills, hands-on monetization expertise and more. We want to share all this with the best developers of the world.” Ralf Adam, the company’s new Executive Producer for 3rd party games at flaregames adds, “We’re picking the best of the best — and Subatomic is the perfect example of this approach. We love the Fieldrunners franchise and we love the studio.”
